Xi'an Famous Foods Amazing Noodles
If you love noodles and like them hand-made, you can't do any better than Xi'an Famous Foods. I had been meaning to try them for a while after hearing so many glowing reviews and I finally got my chance to try their noodles this past week. I went with the Pork "Zha Jiang" Hand-Ripped Noodles ($6.50) and was not disappointed. Biangbiang noodles are tossed with a savory-sweet pork stew and accented with cucumbers, scallions, celery, and chives. The biangbiang noodles are touted as 'one of the ten strange wonders of Shaanxi' and are belt-shaped, due to their thickness and length. The restaurant started in Flushing, Queens and now has 2 locations in Flushing, 4 in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn. Xi'an Famous Foods' noodles come with a warning, that is displayed in the restaurant as well as the online menu: you must eat the noodles fresh from the kitchen as once they cool down they become bloated, mushy and oily. So grab a seat and enjoy!
