This Pie Is Nuts
This Pie Is Nuts is a range of healthy pies and granola, which are free from preservatives and are nourishing for the body. I first tried these delectable pies at the Bryant Park Holiday Market and I got to meet the pie creator herself, Diana. The pies come cutely packaged as individual squares and the flavors are Key Lime, Chocolate Mousse, Purely Pumpkin, Coconut Cream and Sweet Potato & Ginger.
I chose a Key Lime pie and a Coconut Cream pie. The Key Lime was definitely my favorite, with its zesty tartness mixed with creaminess. Pie perfection. The Coconut Cream was really luscious, with flakes of unsweetened coconut adorning the top of the pie.
I can't get enough of the pie crust: it's made up of nuts such as cashews and almonds, and it's just so tasty you could eat the crust all by itself. All of the pies This Pie Is Nuts makes are vegan, gluten free & paleo, so that everyone can enjoy them, regardless of lifestyle or food allergies. Only natural sweeteners are used such as maple syrup, dates and seedless raisins. Absolutely no refined sugar here.
Chef Diana made the change to only eat wholesome, good-for-the-body food when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She took control of her diet and with a desire to learn more, she enrolled at the Natural Gourmet Institute. Soon after graduating and lots of experimenting, This Pie Is Nuts was born.
There is now a new range of fruit pies, with blueberry, cherry and apple flavors. I tried to pick one of these up as well, but they're not yet stocked at the store I went to. So rest assured, as soon as I get my hands on the fruit pies, there will be a review on those too.
As well as the individual squares ($4), the pies can also be purchased as full 9 inch pies with 2 days prior notice.
This Pie Is Nuts is available directly from the kitchen: 9 Henshaw St, New York, NY 10034 and at various other locations throughout NYC, including Westerly Natural Market & Springbone.
