By Misha A/W 2014 In Collaboration With GBGH Jewelry And MaryLai New York
During New York Fashion Week I attended the By Misha fashion presentation 'Eloquence', which was held at the Lali Lali gallery. As well as clothing, there was also jewelry by GBGH Jewelry and handbags by MaryLai New York. Fashion designer Misha Vaidya, who was born and raised in London and studied in Miami, launched By Misha in 2011. The womenswear brand mixes sophistication with elegance; combining sensual fabrics and subtle textures. Brazilian jewelry designer Jackie Barbosa has been designing jewelry for more than 10 years and opened her first studio in Chelsea, NY in 2011. GBGH stands for 'Go big or go home' which is exactly the mantra Jackie stood by when she made the move to New York. Her jewelry has been hugely successful, having been featured in magazines and editorials across the world. The pieces feature oxidized brass, bronze and pyrite to name a few, and the gems include Amazonite, Brazilian gems and tourmaline. I admire GBGH jewelry for its boldness and true uniqueness, with many pieces being one-of-a-kind.
Marylai New York was established in 2012, featuring a line of leather handbags. A mix of ultra-modern with high-quality luxury, each bag in hand-crafted in New York with the emphasis on the details. Mary has been designing bags for the past decade and was recently awarded the Independent Handbag Designer Award in June 2013 for the Best Handmade Handbag.
